Oh gosh! I couldn’t imagine, I walked such a long distance. Covering Dhampus, Pothana, and Australian Camp on your foot is a bit massive. Since it was a much-needed break for me, I am happy with this experience. However, I suggest this hike for at least two days. Only then you will find spare time for yourself since there won’t be any rush. But still, if you want to complete this in a single day then it’s a good idea to get the vehicle up to Dhampus. And start your hike from there. Believe me; It would be then perfect one-day hiking across Pokhara.
I started my hike from Ghattekhola and headed towards Dhampus, which is about 6 km away. Though there is an opportunity to hire a vehicle, I chose to walk across. I heard about the walking trail, so I started searching as soon as I reached Ghattekhola. Luckily, I found it and all the credit goes to my little friend here in the picture.
It took me more than two hours to get Dhampus as I was hiking slowly. Frankly, I was struggling. The trail is steep to high. But surprisingly, when I reached the top; I got my energy back. I was very excited to see the Himalayas and the beautiful village.
Spending almost an hour for the break, I headed towards Pothana. The trail was comparatively easier. Enjoying the beautiful scenery and the local people there, I didn’t realize how quickly I reached Pothana.
Pothana has a beautiful landscape. Infact, most of the things are common between Dhampus, Pothana, and Australian Camp.
Australian Camp is 30 minutes away from Pothana. Since it is easily accessible, it has its huge popularity among the national community. I met lots of visitors from Kathmandu, Chitwan enjoying around Thulakharka. Do you know or not, Australian Camp is also known as Thulakharka.
After spending three hours at Australian Camp, I decided to get down to Kande. It took me thirty minutes to get there. As soon as I reached Kande, I got a bus and then headed back to Pokhara.
As a whole, it was the best experience but a bit hurry, I would say. Those places where I visited offer a beautiful combination of nature. And the local people there were helpful and friendly. If you are looking to hike then you should try this. Trust me; you don’t want to escape; once you visit those places.
Wow! I got also greatly enjoyed that places !!
The hike to Dhampus is an excellent chance to engage yourself in the natural beauty of the Himalayan Mountains. Hiking through subtropical forests and scenic rice paddies is part of the experience. You’ll pass through several beautiful villages along the way, where you could see Nepalese peasants going about their daily lives. The magnificent Annapurna Mountain panorama, as well as the fantastic sunset and the sunrise, are visible from Australian Base Camp.
