I am visiting Nepal soon and I have only 5 days. Can you please suggest me the itinerary?

If this is the case then you can visit around Kathmandu and do some hiking around Nagarkot from where you can see the beautiful mountains.

There are number of amazing places like Thamel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Patan, Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath Temple, Buddhanilakantha and many more.  Obviously, it is very hard to cover all the places in short period of time but if you can manage, it would be great.

Let’s say, you are arriving at August 1 in the morning and have to depart by August 5 in the afternoon.

Aug 1 – Arrival at International Airport, Kathmandu.  Get into hotel and take a rest. Go sightseeing around Kathmandu valley .i.e. Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Garden of Dreams and in the evening, you can visit around Thamel.

Aug 2 – You can visit to Pashupatinath Temple, which opens at 4 am in the morning.  It has a religious, cultural and historical importance across Nepal.  You will love the spiritual experience there.  You can do sightseeing around Kathmandu and then head to Nagarkot, where you will spend your night.

Aug 3 –  If the weather is good then you can see the view of beautiful mountains.  Even you can see an amazing sunrise from Nagarkot.  Then, you can hike about 4 hours to Changu Narayan, a world heritage site.  About four km’s away, you will find Bhaktapur; the beautiful place where you will feel the sense of history.  You can stroll through the town and get in love with the architecture.  Spend your night there.

Aug 4 –  After having breakfast, you can leave to Patan; a city of handicraft.  Though it’s closer to Kathmandu, you can still feel the charm of traditions.  It is a city of major temple, monasteries and is a world heritage site.  You can enjoy the peaceful ambience of Patan and predominance of art.  You can then return to Kathmandu in the evening and spend your night.

Aug 5 –  Today, you are going back.  Therefore, don’t stress it too much.  Visit nearby places, go for shopping and try to reach Airport before two hours of your flight.

This is the itinerary for your five days holiday.  If you had enough time then you should have visited Pokhara.  But for five days, this is perfect.

Let me know, if there is anything confusion.
