In this post, I am trying to gather as much as information to get a clear idea about this trek. For this, I brought Mr. Sunil Naubaag , a trekking guide who has been to Everest Base Camp for number of times. We will discuss about the itinerary, guides, porters, season, altitude sickness and many more.
Can we trek to Everest Base Camp by ourselves?
Yes, we can. Usually, it is tough to find a clear path during the trek but this doesn’t apply to this trek. We can hike independently as well. However, I don’t suggest this. I strongly recommend going through a trekking company. It minimizes the risk. And also, they will take care of everything. You don’t need to worry about hotels, porters, guides, trekking permits, and flights.
The trek starts from Lukla. Usually, we take a flight from Kathmandu to get there. The flying experience is the most thrilling one. Tenzing Hillary Airport at Lukla is very popular for its shortest runway. But if you want to skip the flight then you can get a public vehicle up to Salleri then start the hike to reach Lukla, it will take three days to get there.
