Asadh is the popular month in Nepal’s calendar because of the very famous Asadh 15, The Ropai Festival of Nepal. This festival marks the end of the crop plantation. People celebrate this festival with the hope to get the maximum output of their cultivation. On this day, People go to the farm, start plowing and planting the field. They splash mud to one another in between, which enhances the excitement among the participants. The environment becomes so much pleasure; you wish this day never stops.
“Asare Geet” is another popular term used in the Ropai Festival. It is a folk song that is usually sung while planting the paddy on the field. This festival comes to an end with the consumption of Dahi(Yogurt) and Chiura(Beaten rice). Dahi and Chiura are the main dishes of this festival. This is the reason why Asadh 15 is also called the festival of Dahi and Chiura.
I still remember, my mother was so much angry if I wore a new dress when I went to Ropai Festival. It is because the clothes become very dirty once you get into the field. Therefore, usually, everyone avoids wearing formal or new dresses for that occasion.
This festival is unique in the world. It is the reason why this festival is very much popular among foreigners. A large number of tourist attends this program every year. Because of this reason, various programs are held in different places across the nation every year.
